Abstract

The objective of this thesis is to make induction material for new trainees in the Ministry of Defence, (MOD) in Finland. The aim is to improve the MOD’s orientation process. This guidebook was designed from existing material, which has been used before in the MOD as induction material, together with a checklist. The induction material will be in digital form, for the reason that it can always be up-dated, any new information can be easily added and it is environmentally friendly. The orientation book will be used as a new tool in the MOD. Thesis consist of two parts, the report and the product itself, which is attached to the main report. The background of the topic, objective of the thesis and demarcation is presented in the main report. The third part of thesis consists of theory of HR and orientation itself. Forth part pictures the process of making the guidebook and last chapter consists of self assessment. The guidebook incorporates the most important information, such as working hours and vacations. You can also find essential contacts and information about safety. The thesis process started in 2012. When I participated in an internship at the MOD at that time, I decided to make this induction material. Later on we signed an agreement and I completed the work only at the beginning of 2014. This guidebook will help facilitate the orientation process, as it will be given to em-ployees in advance, before the beginning of their internship.
