Abstract

Medical image analysis is a recent upcoming research area This newlineresearch work is about Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI and Computer newlineTomography CT This analysis involves three major image processing newlineapplications They are 1 Image Fusion 2 Image Denoising and 3 Image newlineCompression Each application works with the following transforms namely newlineWavelet Transform Ridgelet Transform Curvelet Transform and Contourlet newlineTransform A comparative study has also been made among the following newlinewavelet based transforms namely Wavelet Based Ridgelet Transform newlineWBRT Wavelet Based Curvelet Transform WBCVT and Wavelet Based newlineContourlet Transform WBCNT newlineIn the present thesis a novel approach to perform three image newlineprocessing applications like Image Fusion Image Denoising and Image newlineCompression is proposed using the MATLAB technical computing language newlineImage fusion is one of the most modern accurate and useful diagnostic newlinetechniques in medical imaging Medical image fusion is the process of newlinecombining relevant information from several images into one image The newlinefinal output image provides more information than any of the single images newlineMedical image fusion tries to solve the issue of where there is no single newlinemodality which provides both anatomical and functional information Further newlinemore information provided by different modalities may be in agreement or in newlinecomplementary nature The main objective of medical image fusion is to newlineobtain a high resolution image with as much details as possible in a single newlineimage for the purpose of diagnosis newline%%%reference p141-147.
