Abstract

The present thesis attempts a contrastive study of the syntactico semantic features of three significant aspects of syntax in the two languages Relativization Complementation and coordination The features of the smaller syntactic units like the noun phrase verb phrase the auxiliary prepositions cases etc have been studied within the framework of the newlinelarger patterns The study is essentially typological in nature independent of any genealogical or areal kinship between languages As a contrastive study involving English and Kashmiri the present one is the first of its kind It is strictly speaking syntactico semantic in orientation maintaining its focus on the syntactic analysis of sentences newline%%%
