Thiazoloisoquinolines have remained, until now, an unknown class of heteroaromatic compounds. Therefore it was of interest to synthesize and study some of the eight possible isomers of this series of compounds. The isomers chosen, thiazolo [4,5-e]isoquinoline (I) and thiazolo [5,4-c]isoquinoline (II), were those in which the thiazole ring is fused to the heterocyclic ring of the isoquinoline nucleus. These two isomers differ only in the orientation of the thiazole ring on the heterocyclic ring of the isoquinoline nucleus. [...]
