Abstract

Comparative digestibility trials with steers and rabbits fed on identical diets of pasture herbage (lawn clippings) are reported. Rabbits were found to be somewhat more variable than steers in their ability to digest pasture herbage. The variability of the rabbit, however, is not so large as to necessitate impractically large numbers of animals to obtain reliable average results. Evidence is presented to indicate the existence of a correlation between the ability of steers and rabbits to digest pasture herbage.
