This study was an approach to training graduate students in the field of counseling in order to develop a more empathic and objective view of the helper role. The methods used were team-teaching, audio-tapes and video tapes which provided feedback of skills learned in a community based atmosphere. Students were also exposed to different theoretical approaches to therapy. The results of the study were that students who participated in the training demonstrated a much higher level of verbal counseling responses after their training compared to students who had not gone through this type of experiential training.
