"In order to mitigate the deterioration problem of the stone foundations and help preserve the monuments at Luxor, it is necessary to understand the hydrostratigraphy of the Luxor area and to investigate sites that may host buried (undiscovered) monuments. With this long-term goal in mind, integrated geophysical and hydrological investigations including resistivity soundings, seismic refraction, ground penetrating radar, and chemical analysis of groundwater and surface water were conducted." – Abstract, p. iii.
