Abstract

The evolution of gender identity has created a blurring of lines where individuals have greater freedom to develop into the personae of their choosing. This ambiguity is especially felt by men of my generation who have traditionally relied on a discrete set of defined gender role options. Now, as these men progress into adulthood, they are forced to make decisions that will affect the rest of their lives. With endless options and the pressure to create an ideal biographical narrative, a paradox exists. These individuals have no choice but to choose. My photographs represent men during this time of transition as they confront these decisions and settle into the lifestyle of their choosing.
