The current research studies the effect of imbalance on readings taken by Wheel Impact Load Detectors (WILD) system that can totally change the status of the wheels from being alertable or condemnable to a reduced alert status or to even be classified as good wheels that can remain safely in service with absolutely no risk of causing track damage. We developed a method to both quantify and correct for the effect of imbalance on readings taken by WILD. Advisors/Committee Members: Fraser, Jane M. (advisor), Wiley, Roy B.
