Abstract

Membrane technology is widely applied for water treatment and newlinereceives significant attention because it is an outstanding process for the newlineremoval of particles turbidity and microorganisms from water due to their newlinereliability and ease of operation However fouling is regarded as the newlinebottleneck in membrane filtration process One of the practical strategies to newlinedecrease fouling is the use of advanced antibiofouling membrane material newlineCurrent research and development efforts are directed towards drastic newlineimprovements in antifouling property while maintaining the inherent high newlinethroughput characteristics of the membranes newlineWith this objective in mind the present work is to focus on the newlinepreparation and characterization of hybrid Poly etherethersulfone nano and newlineultrafiltration membranes by incorporation of Nanosilver and NanoZinc newlineoxide to meet the requirement of various industrial separations Nanosilver newlineand nanoZnO particles were prepared by chemical method Silver and ZnO newlinenanoparticles were characterized by Xray Diffraction XRD Scanning newlineElectron Microscopy SEM and Transmission Electron Microscopy TEM newlineHigh performance antimicrobial hybrid nanofiltration newlinemembranes were prepared by the diffusion induced phase inversion newlinetechnique The prepared membranes were characterized by attenuated newlinetotal reflectance Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy ATRFTIR newlineXRD SEM Energy dispersive Xray analysis EDX Atomic Force newlineMicroscopy AFM viscosity compaction pure water flux water content newlineporosity molecular weight cutoff mean pore size differential scanning newlinecalorimetry thermogravimetric analysis mechanical analysis and contact newlineangle technique The results and discussion about the performance of newlinePEESNanosilver and PEESNanoZnO hybrid nanofiltration membranes are newlinedescribed in chapter 3 and chapter 5 respectively newlineSurface chemistry of the hybrid nano and ultrafiltration membranes newlinewas established by ATRFTIR Crystalline nature of the membranes were newlineanalysed by XRD Morphological behavior of the both Nanosilver and Nano newlineZnO nanofiltration hybrid membranes%%%-
