Abstract

The rocks of the area can be divided into two major divisions (a) Recent material (b) Metamorphic rocks. Metamorphic rocks constitute most of the outcropping rocks of the area, In order of abundance, there are as follows:- quartz biotite schists; calcareous bands; knotted schist band. In this area of the Mt. Lofty Ranges there are numerous districts where copper has been founds and in some cases mined in comparatively large quantities.
