Abstract
The thesis explores social, cultural and historical factors behind the increase in use of air-con in Singapore since the1960s. It questions how and why Singapore has ended up as an almost entirely air-conditioned city-state. It also explores some of the implications the use of air-con has in Singaporeans everyday life.
