"The purpose of this thesis is to make a study of the photobromination of azobenzene. The effect of various variables has been studied. The factors considered were, temperature, frequency of light, and concentration. Information on photobrominations is of great scientific importance, as it opens up a comparatively new field of research, and also contributes further data which helps to establish the quantum theory, if indeed this theory is still in controversy" – Introduction, p. 3.
