Abstract

An attempt was made to work out a method whereby higher keto acids could be estimated in the presence of acetoacetic acid and acetone in the urine, the acids being determined as their corresponding ketones. The method proved to be successful for mixtures of acetone with methy1-ethy1 ketone and of acetone with methy1-propyl ketone. The amount of acetone was determined colorimetrically and the amount of acetone and ketone together was determined iodometrically: the quantity of ketone was found by subtraction.
