Abstract

The question of the advisability of grinding grain for farm animals is one which is causing a great deal of discussion at the present time. Theoretically it would be expected that any preparation of a feed, for any class of farm animals, which would render mastication easier and simpler, would result in a higher coefficient of digestion for that particular feed, and would consequently enhance its feeding and fattening qualities. The work which has been done at the different Experiment Stations in the United States, as well as the opinions of some of our foremost authorities on the value of preparing grain for the different classes of livestock, will be reviewed.
