"The most notable increase in the gold production of Utah is due to the extensive operations of DeLaMar's Mercur mines in the Mercur district, which are at the present time producing more than two-thirds of the total tonnage of the entire camp. The nucleus of this great property consist of 143 acres, called the Golden Gate Group, by which name the property is still locally known, was purchased by Captain J. R. DeLaMar in 1895" – p. [1].
