Abstract

"The supply of water for use in the School of Mines has long been a subject of study and discussion. The school is located in the north end of Rolla, being on the highest part of the Ozark uplift and having an elevation of 1140 ft. above the sea level. This makes it very difficult for a reservoir of sufficient capacity to be located for the water supply of the city of Rolla. Therefore the city has no water work and it becomes necessary for the School of Mines to furnish its own water" – p. 1.
