Abstract

"In preparing this thesis the object has been to determine, by comparisons, a possible source of the Carboniferous sandstones. It is perfectly obvious that the material came from some older formation. Considering all the possible sources from which the Carboniferous sandstone could have originated, we, have the Pre-Cambrian igneous rocks of the St. Francois Mountains, the basal Cambrian sandstone or the La Motte formation, the Roubidoux formation (chiefly sandstone), and the St. Peter formation (essentially sandstone) – Introduction, p. 4.
