Abstract

[pt] Na atualidade, a avaliao do estado motor depacientes com AVC e idosos realizada mediante o uso de escalasqualitativas e sem padronizao ou instrumentos de medio. Asescalas so mais comuns por serem relativamente baratas eacessveis, mas sofrem a desvantagem de serem subjetivas,variveis, e requerem tempo de treinamento prolongado. Por outrolado, os instrumentos de avaliao, embora mais precisos eobjetivos, tm o problema de serem heterogneos, geralmente muitocaros, e focados em objetivos especficos. O surgimento nos ltimostempos de sensores 3D com alta preciso e baixo custo, alguns delesbem conhecidos, como o Microsoft Kinect, permite a utilizao deanlise de movimento para quantificar o dficit ou sucesso de umtratamento fisioteraputico ou medicamentoso, de forma quantitativae padronizada, possibilitando tambm a comparao de formaautomtica com padres de pessoas ss, do mesmo estgio de doena,ou de caratersticas similares. O objetivo desse trabalho criarum sistema usando o Microsoft Kinect para a captura e processamentodo estado motor de forma no-invasiva, fornecendo feedback clnicoque permita realizar uma avaliao quantitativa e objetiva depacientes com mobilidade reduzida, permitindo um acompanhamento daevoluo da doena e reduo do tempo dereabilitao. [en] The evaluation of the motor status of strokepatients and elderly people is done by using qualitative scaleswithout standardization or measuring instruments. The scales aremost common because they are relatively inexpensive and accessible,but suffer the disadvantage of being subjective, variable, andrequire prolonged training time. Moreover, assessment instruments,although more accurate and objective, have the problem of beingheterogeneous, usually very expensive, and focused on specificgoals. The rise in recent times of 3D sensors with high accuracyand low cost, some of them well known as the Microsoft Kinect,allows the use of motion analysis to quantify the deficit orsuccess of a physiotherapeutic or drug treatment in a quantitativeand standardized way, enabling the automatic comparison withstandards of healthy people, and people with the same stage ofdisease, or similar characteristics. The aim of this work is tocreate a system using Microsoft Kinect for capturing and processingmotor status of patients with reduced mobility in a non-invasiveway, providing clinical feedback that allows the conduction of aquantitative and objective evaluation of patients, enablingmonitoring of disease progression and reduced rehabilitationtime.Advisors/Committee Members: ALBERTO BARBOSA RAPOSO.
