Abstract

The Doctoral Performance and Research submitted by Ryan S. Smith, under the direction of Dr. Sarah McKoin at Texas Tech University, in the fulfillment of the requirements for the degree Doctor of Musical Arts consists of the following:I. Wind Band Transcription:This transcription is of the first two movements of Avner Dorman's orchestral work, "Ellef Symphony." It is a transcription for full wind-band instrumentation.II. Written document:This written document contains biographical information, program note, and analytical study of the themes and motives contained in the transcription "Ellef Symphony."Advisors/Committee Members: Fischer, Peter (committee member), Allen, Eric (committee member), McKoin, Sarah (Committee Chair).
