Enhancing infotainment applications quality of service in vehicular ad hoc networks

Abstract

Les rseaux ad hoc de vhicules accueillent une multitude dapplications intressantes. Parmi celles-ci, les applications dinfo-divertissement visent amliorer lexprience des passagers. Ces applications ont des exigences rigides en termes de dlai de livraison et de dbit. De nombreuses approches ont t proposes pour assurer la qualit du service des dites applications. Elles sont rparties en deux couches : rseau et contrle daccs. Toutefois, ces mthodes prsentent plusieurs lacunes.Cette thse a trois volets. Le premier aborde la question du routage dans le milieu urbain. A cet gard, un nouveau protocole, appel SCRP, a t propos. Il exploite linformation sur la circulation des vhicules en temps rel pour crer des pines dorsales sur les routes et les connecter aux intersections laide des nuds de pont. Ces derniers collectent des informations concernant la connectivit et le dlai, utilises pour choisir les chemins de routage ayant un dlai de bout-en-bout faible. Le deuxime sattaque au problme daffectation des canaux de services afin daugmenter le dbit. A cet effet, un nouveau mcanisme, appel ASSCH, a t conu. ASSCH collecte des informations sur les canaux en temps rel et les donne un modle stochastique afin de prdire leurs tats dans lavenir. Les canaux les moins encombrs sont slectionns pour tre utiliss. Le dernier volet vise proposer un modle analytique pour examiner la performance du mcanisme EDCA de la norme IEEE 802.11p. Ce modle tient en compte plusieurs facteurs, dont lopportunit de transmission, non exploite dans IEEE 802.11p.Advisors/Committee Members: Hafid, Abdelhakim (advisor), Khoukhi, Lyes (advisor).
