Civil engineering - Structural engineering -Vibration of steel structures / Graevinarstvo - Graevinarstvo -inenjerske konstrukcije - Vibracija elinihkonstrukcija The presented thesis studied proposed a novelprocedures that was implemented to develop a Structural HealthMonitoring (SHM) technique as non-destructive tests that can beapplied to detect damage, localization and quantification of civilstructures. This technique based on investigations of dynamiccharacteristics of the structures to detect the damages throughtheir operational conditions of service life. The proposedprocedure was built using Artificial Intelligence Technique (AIT)under concept of the methods of damage detection based on updatingFE model using heuristic optimization methods. The proposed SHMprocedure Using Simulated Annealing heuristic optimization methoswas shortened to "SHMUSA-procedure". The SHMUSA-procedure wasverified on four types of steel structural models; simply supportedoverhang beam; grid bridge, Verendeel bridge and Multi-storeybuilding model to prove reliability, efficiency and robustnessunder various dynamic behaviours. The SHMUSA-procedure was adoptedthe changes in dynamic characteristics, natural frequency andnormalized mode shape vector, which are extracted from experimentalmodal analysis and estimated from numerical modal analysis of thedamage scenario for structural models. and their characteristics,location and severity,. The experimental testing is implementedusing simulation of ambient vibration measurements by exciting thestructural models by shaker device using generated vibrationsignal. The dynamic response, output only, of the structural modelsare recorded using 8- accelerometers and 8-channel acquisitiondevice. Experimentally, the modal properties of the structuralmodels are extracted by ARTeMIS extractor software using FrequencyDomain Decomposition (FDD) technique by peak picking method. Thenumerical simulation of structural models are modeled in FiniteElement Model (FEM) using ANSYS package software by ANSYSParametric Design Language (APDL). Numerically, the modalproperties of structural models are estimated by ANSYS softwareusing block Lanczos method of dynamic modal analysis for isotropicelastic linear structural models type.
