Encontramosevidncia de um AWE significante para ambos os grupos, emparticular para os filhos. Tambm investigamos algumasheterogeneidades no AWE para filhos. Nossos resultados sugerem quea magnitude do AWE para eles maior para mulheres e para aquelesfora da escola. A magnitude desse AWE tambm est relacionada aoutras caractersticas de membros do domiclio, especialmente osrendimentos do chefe de famlia e acesso aoseguro-desemprego. [en] The added worker effect (AWE) is the increase inthe likelihood of an individual to enter the labor force inresponse to the household head s job loss. This dissertationestimates the AWE for married women and children and young adultsin Brazil using propensity score matching methods. We find evidenceof a significant AWE for both groups, in particular for childrenand young adults. We also investigate some heterogeneities in theAWE for children and young adults. Our results suggest that themagnitude of the AWE for them is higher for females and for thoseout of school. This AWE magnitude is also related to otherhousehold members characteristics, specially the household head searnings and access to unemployment insurance.Advisors/Committee Members: GUSTAVO MAURICIO GONZAGA.
