The Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) will allow for events related to the heaviest and most diverse extraterrestrial objects to be measured by detecting the corresponding low-frequency gravitational waves. At the University of Florida, a unique torsion pendulum has been, and continues to be, developed to test new technologies for the LISA gravitational reference sensor (GRS), and the primary focus of the corresponding research and development is quantifying the acceleration noise performance of the GRSs. Excessive swing motion of the pendulum causes issues regarding dynamic range and nonlinear coupling. To mitigate the pendulum's swing mode, an eddy current damper (ECD) is employed.
