Abstract

ABSTRACT The present study is carried out at the experimental field of Institute of Technology in Tropics and subtropics (ITT), Germany in new Kalabsha village, Aswan governorate. Its coordinate is N 23,28,0623- E 32,29,287 ) 185 m above sea level during the winter season 2009 – 2010. The aim of this study is to evaluate different strawberry genotypes (Sweet Charlie – Camarosa –Festival – Tamar) under different soil covers (Black-silver , Black , Transparent and bare ground) within different planting dates (20th October , 5th November and 20th November) in eastern Sahara region, case study New Kalabsha village, Aswan governorate Egypt . The first planting date had higher early yield followed by second and third planting dates respectively . Highest early yield occurred for plants grown with black-silver mulch followed by black mulch and transparent mulch and bare ground . First planting date had highest total yield followed by second and third planting dates. The highest total yield occurred for Festival cultivar followed by Tamar, Camarosa and Sweet Charlie . The plants grown with Black-Silver mulch had the highest total yield per plant followed by others planted with black , transparent mulch and bare ground .
