Abstract

The main issues of food security are most important in this globalized world. Because the problem of food is not a condition of the present situation only it came from the period of Stone Age. From that time humans were wandering for food, and in still present conditions they are doing so. Food is necessary to human beings for living their life. In recent years, most experts like to define food security as access to enough food by all people at all times to lead a healthy life. It is now being increasingly appreciated that food security is a primarily a matter of ensuring effective demand rather than a problem relating to food supply. This research gives the Introduction of Public Distribution System with Post independence background. It also summaries of PDS before and after India’s entry in W.T.O. in 1995. This research discussed about the lacunae of TPDS. This dissertation deals with a short overview of food security in India after 1995 in context of rural and urban areas in Maharashtra with Primary Survey and Analysis of Findings.
