Modelo de curadoria digital aplicado aos cursos de graduação no campo da ciência da informação: alinhamento estratégico ao mercado de tecnologia e informação

Abstract: The State of Santa Catarina and especially the Greater Florianópolis Region represent a major hub of development and innovation in technology. Thus, they demand professionals able to work with skills and abilities aligned to contemporary expectations and profound digital transformations. This environment of transformations also includes the exhaustive production of data and information that denotes concerns and the need for appropriate procedures for its preservation and reuse. In this context are inserted the courses of the Department of Information Science of the Federal University of Santa Catarina that form information professionals to work in this market. Based on these points, the motivation for this thesis was how to promote continuous curricular updating of undergraduate courses in the field of Information Science in order to promote a strategic alignment with the demands of the technology and information market. To this end, a bibliographic search was conducted to understand issues involving higher education and the information professional. Next, it was understood to be important to research Digital Curatorship as an environment for storing, preserving, and reusing data and information in order to propose a model to be included as a management tool for the courses in question. The research is then characterized as qualitative, and to accomplish its objective it assumes a case study character. To achieve the expected results, the qualitative analysis allowed for the exploration and interpretation of contemporary issues in the world of work and their interactions with undergraduate education. From this knowledge, a Digital Curatorship model was proposed to foster curricular updating of undergraduate courses in the field of Information Science integrated with the demands of the technology and information market. Four important sources were defined as inputs, being course graduates, student interns, managers of companies in the region, and vacancies available for professionals. The results were transformed into representative terms and crossreferenced with the disciplines included in the curricular matrix of the Bachelor of Information Science course, adopted as the course for the application of the prototype. This crossing showed that the disciplines still need to be updated to meet the expectations of the labor market for this professional. Also, as results it was concluded that the model is feasible and that it can be replicated in all courses, establishing the crossing with other curricular matrixes and/or other sources to be defined according to management interests. The Digital Curatorship environment, by its preservation and reuse characteristics, besides the possibility of inserting new data, is an important instrument for the dynamic updating of courses. This answers the thesis' guiding questions.
