Dimensionamento da força de trabalho nas instituições públicas de saúde: uma revisão integrativa

This research focuses on one of the most powerful and complex practices in health work management: personnel dimensioning. The objectives of this study consist of the following points: highlight the contributions of dimensioning to the management of work in public health institutions; identify the scientific production related to dimensioning in the area of health work management; and reflect on the dimensioning methodologies used in health institutions. An integrative review of the literature was carried out on the theme of workforce dimensioning, with emphasis on the health area. The purpose of identifying experiences and contributions of the dimensioning, conceptually deepening on the subject, has as image-objective to present to the manager of the Health Department a planning instrument that, when applied, will be able to avoid the excessive supply of professionals, identify possible insufficiencies related to the number of staff, gather technical information necessary to expand managerial skills, and support managers' decision making, in order to ensure the best execution of the work and efficiency in the service provision. We believe that the systematization and analysis of experiences regarding the practice of staff dimensioning in health, registered in the literature, may help health departments that have not elected such practice yet to start their implementation processes.
