Comunicação e linguagem na creche e no jardim de infância: relato de uma experiência de estágio: Communication and language in the nursery and kindergarten: an account of an internship experience

This internship report presents the pedagogical intervention projects developed within the curricular unit Internship, the Master's degree in Preschool Education, the University of Minho. In the context of daycare, the pedagogical intervention project took place based on the observation of a group of children, aged between twelve and twenty-four months, who do not yet master oral language but with great interest in stories, and thus, according to the children's interest, pedagogical strategies were structured to promote oral language, through the exploration of stories and also playful situations. In the context of kindergarten, the pedagogical intervention arose from the observation of a group of children, aged between three and five years, who presented a poorvocabulary, still very "infantilized" and had difficulties in communicating orally in different contexts such as narrating events, reproducing and/or inventing stories; transmit messages... with the main objective of promoting learning in the field of oral language, expanding the lexicon of children, promoting linguistic awareness and stimulating imagination. In the scope of this project were explored tales, traditional stories, lengalengas, poetry, valuing aspects of our culture, allowing communication, articulation of ideas, and expression of thought, and consequently, the acquisition of a broader vocabulary and the construction of more complete sentences. This report depicts the pedagogical intervention process, as well as the investigative dimension of the projects with the aim of identifying and analysing strategies that promoted the lexical expansion of children and linguistic awareness. The pedagogical intervention developed allowed important contributions to expand the opportunities of communication and language among children and stimulate a growing interest in activities around the field of oral language, through the central role of the educator in promoting dialogues and resorting to various strategies such as reading and exploring stories for the development of language and communication.
