Abstract

Abstract: From the initial studies on the epistemology of Ludwik Fleck (1896-1961) and the sociology of Pierre Bourdieu (1930-2002), we seek to answer the following question: how the elements that make up the scientific field of the History of Mathematics Education in Brazil, creation processes, representation, legitimation, agents, thought style and habitus are constituted? The research methodology has a qualitative character, which requires an integrative and analytical capacity for all analyses. The data related to the History of Mathematics Education (Hem, in portuguese) were obtained in: Lattes Curriculum, CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) Directory of Research Groups (DGP/CNPq, in portuguese) and the Catalogue of Theses and Dissertations of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES, in portuguese). We have used two softwares ? IRaMuTeQ and Gephi ? to generate some images, in order to help our analyses. Among the elements that make up the scientific field, in particular Hem in Brazil, we can identify the following: theses and dissertations; research groups (GPs, in portuguese) and the respective lines of research that were formed from the 2000s onwards and their ramifications; communication network through socialization in events, firstly international, and the reflexes between researchers who investigate Hem at the national level, as well as scientific journals and thematic dossiers; disciplining process and some practical examples of the implementation of the History of Mathematics Education discipline, both as mandatory and non-mandatory, in Mathematics Degree courses. Thus, this constitution of the field process until its professionalization can be related to Bourdieu?s theory of sociology and the concepts of scientific habitus, as well as illusio. In this way, agents in the field of Hem seek consolidation and autonomy, which makes the disputes inherent to the game legitimate, such as the coercion of thought. In order to identify the main agents, we have analysed the 18 GPs in which, at the time we explore the DGP/CNPq, there was a line of research in History of mathematics education, then we selected all agents (totalling 167 agents, of which 161 were used in the groups network), measuring their symbolic capital through the Lattes Curriculum, thus identifying the groups dynamics. When analysing the 65 theses, between the years 2012 and 2018, it was possible to identify through the relationship between the authors and their supervisor and/or GP, the indirect factor, that is to say, the coercion of thought as a consequence of the inter- and intra-collective circulation of ideas, practices, theories and methodologies. Most of the thematic axes are from the History of mathematics teacher training. It was possible to identify an association between the supervisor?s GP and Hem?s place, and also the thesis author?s GP and Hem?s place. The GPs that predominate are: the Research Group on the History of Mathematics Education in Brazil (GHEMAT, in…
