Investigating The Adoption And Contribution of Literature-Based Discovery Methods Towards Clinical Research Ideation Among Investigator Initiated Research Projects in Sarawak, Malaysia

This research study indicated that the ability of Literature-Based Discovery system to establish plausible connections enables researchers in gaining new knowledge for hypothesis generation and testing. Several challenges affecting the perceived usability of the Literature-Based Discovery system were identified from the interviews with four researchers with biomedical background. The interview results revealed that the participants faced different usability challenges at the inquiry, investigation and navigation stages of Literature-Based Discovery style hypothesis generation activity. Despite the challenges, findings from the interviews also showed that Literature-Based Discovery systems are capable of broadening users' knowledge base through its employment of graph visualization in result presentation.
